Source data

All event and fatality figures come from the Uppsala Conflict Data Program (UCDP) at Uppsala University: the annual Georeferenced Event Dataset (GED) for completed years and the monthly Candidate Events releases for the current year. Both are published under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 licence. UCDP records an event when organized violence produces at least one death at a known place and date, and classes it as state-based conflict, non-state conflict, or one-sided violence against civilians.

Time windows

UCDP publishes with a lag of several weeks. All windows on this site are therefore anchored to the last date present in the data, currently 31 Jul 2026, not to today's date. "Last 30 days" means the 30 days ending on that date; "last 90 days" and "last 12 months" likewise. The trend indicator compares the last 90 days with the 90 days before that: a change of 20% or more is shown as rising or falling, anything smaller as stable.

Deaths

Death figures use UCDP's "best" estimate for each event. Civilian deaths are UCDP's deaths_civilians field. Estimates are conservative by design and typically undercount true fatalities.

Regions

Regional pages follow UCDP's first-level administrative coding (adm_1), which usually corresponds to a province, state or region. Areas with fewer than 5 recorded events in the last 12 months are counted in the country totals but do not get a separate page. Countries with fewer than 10 events in the last 12 months are not listed.

Candidate events

Current-year figures rely on Candidate Events, which UCDP publishes monthly before full review. Some candidates are revised or dropped in the next annual GED release. Candidate rows flagged by UCDP for further checking are included as published.

Maps

Maps plot event coordinates as published by UCDP, sized by estimated deaths. Country outlines come from Natural Earth (public domain). Positions can be approximate; UCDP records a precision code for each event that is not shown here.

Reports and headlines

Humanitarian reports are the latest items from ReliefWeb's public feed for each country. News headlines come from the GDELT project's document search for the last seven days and are not verified by this site. Both are provided as pointers, not as part of the statistics.

Updates

The site rebuilds itself automatically every day, downloading the latest files listed on UCDP's download page. Last build: 16 Sep 2026.

This site is an aggregation of published research data for general information. It is not a security advisory or early-warning service and should not be used to make travel or operational decisions on its own.
