In January 2025, UCDP recorded 96 organized-violence events in Brazil, with 106 estimated deaths. That is -17% compared with 116 events the month before. The death toll range is 91 to 108.
83% of the month's events were non-state conflict. Civilian deaths: 22.
Events were concentrated in Piauí state (20), Rio Grande do Norte state (19), Maranhão state (15).
The most active pairing was Comando Vermelho - PCC with 22 events.
